Details

We've decided to stand up MarionetteJS tests for on-device tests, and run them for a while in parallel with the existing Python gaia-ui-tests, in order to see what the pain points are and if developer engagement is better.

Gareth, can you take this, or pass it to someone else?
Sure thing :)

There is a device host runner already. That's what we use for |make test-perf|

But it is really basic and can possibly get imporvements.

We don't have profile push to the device though.
On our Jenkins jobs, the profile push is done by Jenkins; it doesn't need to be part of the device harness.
I was just pointing it out as the in-tree integration test more or less expect this to be possible. James Lal knows more about that.
Hey James - I want to talk to you about this and whether/how it might make sense to add profile pushing to the device host. Ping me on irc when you get a free minute!

How/where does this fit in with bug 990635 and its dependencies/related bugs?

I think bug 990635 and friends supersede this bug.
