I have a patch, in limbo, that removes the prefixed extensions. Should we finalize that?

Yes; the question is the timing. How about landing the present patch asap, and keeping that for one or two release cycles, and then (so maybe Gecko 29) land your patch that removes prefixed extensions? Looking at these 5 extensions, the biggie there is the S3TC extension. It's possible that some content out there is relying on it. But if Jeff or Vlad feel that we can drop them immediately, then sure, that's all the better.
