User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040122 Debian/1.6-1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040122 Debian/1.6-1 I have an imaps server (running courier-imap-ssl) and several folders within an account. Everytime i click on 4/5 folders one after another, it eventually (and randomly) loses connection and times out. Interestingly, you can still browse the INBOX but no longer access any folder. There is nothing in the imap/mail logs on the server. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. log on to an imap server (ssl) 2. click on several folders 3. watch it timeout Actual Results: can no longer access folders Expected Results: still being able to browse them
As instructed in the troubleshooting section for IMAP on Mozilla's website, i created a logfile of the connection which shows what is going wrong.

your courier server is limited to 4 simultaneous connections, and by default, Mozilla will keep five connections alive. You can either change your IMAP Courier server configuration to allow more connections, or change the Mozilla imap server advanced server settings to only cache 4 connections instead of five.
Nice one, i got the clients to be set to 4, that fixes it nicely. Steph
