  • 119.0a1 (2023-08-31)

Affected versions

  • 119.0a1 (2023-08-31)

Tested platforms

  • Affected platforms:, macOS 13, Ubuntu 22.1, Windows 10x64
  • Unaffected platforms: none

Preconditions

  • browser.tabs.firefox-view-next:true (default on Nightly)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Firefox and Firefox view.
  2. Click on List all tabs > Hidden tabs.
  3. Observe the Firefox view icon.

Expected result

  • A Firefox View icon is displayed.

Actual result

  • A default globe Firefox View icon is displayed.

Regression range

  • It seems that this started after the Firefox View Next preference was implemented (bug 1837037). Before there was a Firefox icon displayed and now there is a default globe icon. Given the fact that this is a new implementation I don't think this is a regression. Feel free to change if you feel otherwise.

Additional notes

  • Attached a screenshot.

Especially now that we have a specific firefox-view icon, it makes sense to show it here. I'm seeing the Firefox Nighty icon - which is what is indicated in the HTML document's <meta rel="icon"> meta tag. But as the tab's icon is actually controlled by a Nimbus property currently, it might be simplest to update the meta tag when that study has concluded.

I don't see a bug on file to update the icon and generally conclude the icon study. Do you know if we have one on file somewhere :sclements? Can you add a dependency here when that is filed?

I've added bug 1854957 for this.
