Preconditions
Have the persist feature enabled (browser.urlbar.showSearchTerms.featureGate set to true).
Steps to reproduce
- Launch Firefox.
- Perform a search using the address bar or load any website.
- Open a new tab.
Expected result
- Address bar is empty.
Actual result
- The search term or website address is displayed in the new tab.
Regression range
- This is regressed by bug 1798938.

Fairly certain it's because I removed a try/catch block I originally added and that I thought no longer needed in my code refactor. Will submit a patch soon.

The issue is verified fixed using Fx108.0b4 and Fx109.0a1 on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 22.04. Persist search term is not displayed in newly opened tabs without input.
