Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a folder which contains a "/" in the folder name (ex: fef3/)
  2. Place Firefox inside that folder.
  3. Open Firefox.

Expected Result

  • Firefox opens without any issues.

Actual Result

  • Firefox freezes and become unresponsive.

Notes

  • I tried searching for an existing bug but failed to do so. Please feel free to mark it as duplicate if that's the case.
  • Please feel free to change the component and place it where it fits best.
  • This issue goes way back to Firefox 65.0b10.
  • As a comparison I noticed that Chrome is not affected by this issue.

I was able to reproduce this, and I was also able to confirm that the patch that is currently under review in bug 1770484 will fix this. \o/

I will close this bug once bug 1770484 lands.

This issue is verified fixed using Firefox 103.0a1 (BuildId:20220606212503) on macOS 11. Firefox no longer freezes if it gets open from a folder which contains a "/" in the folder name
