Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the .dmg.
  2. Drag and click on the Firefox icon from the dock or launch it from the disk image and choose Don’t Install.

Expected result

  • Firefox window is brought up

Actual result

  • Firefox is launched somewhere in background and will come up only when clicked again from the dock

I wonder if the addition of the double nested event loop in bug 1729879 will fix this...

csasca, does this still happen for you in beta 93? If so, might you be able to track down which Nightly build it was fixed in using mozregression? https://mozilla.github.io/mozregression/

Yes, still happening in 93.0b4, tried doing a manual regression (mozregression won't come with the prompt to install the dmg or not) and seems like 93.0a1 (2021-09-01) is the first and is not affected by the issue.

93 does not have the fix from bug 1729879 yet. I'd expect the patch from that bug to fix this bug, too.
