I have seen the same issue on macOS 12.0 Beta (21A5304g) and I was able to reproduce this without going through an installation. I also seem to recall that I was able to reproduce this with a non-Mozilla .dmg. Catalin, could you please check if this might be a regression in macOS itself?

Yep, tried again and it happens only if interacting first with Firefox in the .dmg image. Seems to be happening with older ones as well (90.0a1) and with other random app as well (disk maker X .dmg). Still on macOS 11.5.

Thanks for checking. Would you mind clarifying: When you say "only if interacting first with Firefox in the .dmg image", do you mean that an installation of Firefox from the .dmg has to occur first? And that other .dmg disk images then exhibit the same problem of not being able to be ejected?

No. Double clicking for example Firefox in the .dmg image once is enough, then the finder will enter in a busy status forever. Yes, got the same error message from other .dmgs as well.

Thanks for clarifying. This doesn't appear to be related to bug 1721575 or bug 516362 then.

We should report this to Apple since it can seemingly be reproduced with any .dmg. Catalin, would you be able to do so and post the Feedback Assistant number for your report here for tracking purposes?

Sure thing Stephen. I think this should be enough information for them. Link to the bug: https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/feedback/9608800.

Looks like this is not a regression in Firefox, so removing the relevant flags/keywords.

I'm running the latest Big Sur (macOS 12) beta and can no longer reproduce this issue.
Catalin, is this still happening for you?

Tried again with 94.0b7 on both macOS 11.6.1 and macOS 12 Monterey beta 10 and it seems they fixed the issue with the latest os patches. I will close this as wfm.
