  • Fx 92.0a1
  • Fx 91.0b9

Affected platforms

  • Windows 10 x64
  • macOS 10.12.6
  • Ubuntu 18/4

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch Firefox
  2. Enable the search bar from about:preferences#search by clicking on "Add search bar in toolbar" option
  3. Go to soundcloud.com
  4. Click on the magnifying glass, then select "Add <search engine>"

Expected result

  • The option to add the search engine should no longer be displayed

Actual result

  • The option to add the already added click search engine reappears in the search toolbar

Regression range
Will search for a regression asap

Additional notes

Has Regression Range: --- → no
Has STR: --- → yes

This is primarily an issue with the SoundCloud site - the main page has:

<link href="/sc-opensearch.xml" rel="search" title="SoundCloud search" type="application/opensearchdescription+xml">

but the sc-opensearch.xml file has:

<ShortName>SoundCloud</ShortName>

The difference is what is causing the entry to re-appear.

This is effectively a duplicate of bug 1457069
