Bug 12916 is closed implementing another kind of forwarding with added reply-to header, instead of implementing the resend function as described in the RFC's and requested in that bug.

Since the developers think bug 12916 is now fixed, I clone this bug to request the resend function as specified in the RFC's and also in bug 12916, that was implemented also by the Mail Redirect extension, which stopped working when support for XUL Overlay extensions was dropped in Thunderbird 78.

I removed my vote from the bug #12916 and voted for this bug. Let the next 22 years begin...

@haba713: I'm confident that at least we will get this one done in time for the end of this (next) millennium ;-)

Now what would be the most productive way to handle this? Maybe some kind of summary of the old bug report comments in order to make it even more clear what kind of feature should be achieved?
