Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch Firefox with a clean profile
  2. Enter customize mode and drag bookmarks menu to toolbar
  3. Save the new changes and click over the bookmarks menu to open it
  4. Hover over the Other bookmarks item in the list

Expected result

  • The option is greyed out if there are not entries

Actual result

  • An empty entry is shown, and if clicked a blocking sound (macOS) from the system can be heard

Regression range

  • Will see for a regression if there it is one

I think this has always worked this way (certainly it does so on 78). I don't know if there's a good way of avoiding this, or if we want to. Up to the bookmarks team. The same thing happens in the menubar menu (without the steps in comment #0 to add the button).

As Gijs says, it has always worked this way. I believe the reason the "empty" entry is there is so that there is a drop target so that if you want to drag/drop a bookmark to the folder, you have somewhere to drop it to.

I guess the only thing that might be different is making a sound, but I'd be surprised if that has changed.
