Details

(Whiteboard: [mac:fullscreen:native-affected][mac:fullscreen:nonnative-affected])

Affected versions

  • 88.0a1 (20210302134918)

Affected platforms

  • macOS M1 mini 11.2.2
  • macOS 10.15

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Firefox and a random webpage.
  2. Enter fullscreen and observe the transition.

Expected result

  • Transition to fullscreen is smooth.

Actual result

  • Transition to full screen is choppy.

Regression range

  • This happens with full-screen-api.macos-native-full-screen on true and false as well. I will search for one ASAP.

Notes

  • Attached a screen recording: link.
  • Firefox 87 and 86 are affected as well if full-screen-api.macos-native-full-screen:false.
  • The fullscreen animation was introduced by bug 1633119 while having full-screen-api.macos-native-full-screen:true. This was not reproducible before because there was no animation when entering fullscreen and the pref was true.

Hello! Tried searching for a regression range but it seems that I can reproduce the issue with Firefox 53.0a1 (2017-02-02) as well.
While having full-screen-api.macos-native-full-screen:true the issue can be seen as well when exiting full screen before the animation introduced by bug 1633119. I think it's safe to assume that this is not a regression.
