Note
I may have some settings on my MacBook, because this issue only reproduces on my machine.

Affected versions

  • Fx 86.0b6
  • Fx 87.0a1

Affected platforms

  • macOS 10.15
  • macOS 11.2

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Open a new tab and access the following link
  3. Open the new print modal (print.tab_modal.enabled = true)
  4. Select a custom page selection.
  5. Save to *.pdf.

Expected result

  • The print preview is displayed correctly and save to pdf as in print preview.

Actual result

  • The print preview is displayed correctly but the pdf file contain wrong unicode characters.

Regression range

  • I will come back with regression range ASAP.

Additional notes

  • Setting the pref: gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled to false the *.pdf file is saved correctly.
Has Regression Range: --- → no
Has STR: --- → yes
QA Whiteboard: [qa-regression-triage]

I've investigated this issue on macOS 10.15 and on macOS 11.2 in order to find a regression range, and it seems that the bug reproduces all the way back to Fx 67.0a1 (2019.02.25) on my station only. I must mention that after the investigation I noticed that the *.pdf file was saved correctly, because it opens correctly with chrome, but not with Firefox.

Has Regression Range: no → ---

Tested with Firefox 91.0b5 and latest 92.0a1 Nightly on macOS 10.15 and it seems that the issue is no longer reproducing.
