Note

  • the way this is treated on macOS/Ubuntu seems cleaner; the option is not auto-focused, so the text is there and readable;
  • on Windows, the option is selected when opening the dropdown; making the text hard to read, until hovering over other options;

Affected versions

  • 80.0b1, 81.0a1(2020-07-28);

Affected platforms

  • Windows 10;

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch Firefox and Access https://mozilla.github.io/webrtc-landing/gum_test.html
  2. Click on the Screen Capture option;
  3. Click on the [Select Window or Screen] dropdown;

Expected result/Enhancement suggestion

  • do not auto-focus/auto-select any option;

Actual result

  • first-disabled option from the dropdown is selected;

Regression range

  • not looking like a regression;
  • checked with the test page but on builds prior to 2018-12 the "navigator.mediaDevices[gum] is not a function" so cannot get a proper confirmation;

Additional notes

  • same issue on Light/Dark theme;
  • attached screenshot with the issue;
  • due to the nature, suggested severity is S4.
