Affected versions
- 79.0a1 (BuildId:20200618212828)
- 78.0b9 (BuildId:20200619002543)
- 77.0.1 (BuilId:20200602222727)
- 68.9.0esr (BuildId:20200527211442)
Affected platforms
- Windows 10 64bit
- Ubuntu 18.04 64bit
Unaffected platforms
- macOS 10.14
Steps to reproduce
- Launch Firefox.
- Access the following link
- Click the “Hamburger” menu.
- Click the “Print” option.
- Right click on the page content from the print preview.
- Select the “Save page as” option from the context menu and proceed to save it locally.
- Close print preview.
- Click the downloads button.
Expected result
- The downloads panel is displayed and can be successfully interacted with.
Actual result
- The following error message is displayed inside the browser console:
Downloads: Downloads button cannot be found. downloads.js:551
- The downloads button is displayed as active and can’t be interacted with.
Regression Range
- I don’t think that this is a regression since this behavior is reproducible on older builds from 2016 as well.
Notes
- This is not reproducible if previous downloads were performed on the same profile.
- A workaround for this issue is by either restarting Firefox or hitting CTRL + J
- Simply initiating another download doesn’t seem to fix this issue.
- On a side note, Chrome seems to have disabled the "Save as" option from print preview.
