Affected versions

  • 74.0a1
  • 73.0b7
  • 72.0.2

Affected platforms

  • Windows 10x64
  • macOS 10.15
  • Ubuntu 16.04x64

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to reddit.com
  2. Go to the url bar and click on the shield.
  3. Go to Show Report option.
  4. Click on Manage Settings

Expected result

  • A new tab is opened with about:preferences#privacy and the "Back" is not enabled.

Actual result

  • A new tab is opened with about:preferences#privacy and the "back" buttons is enabled.

Regression range

  • will return with a regression ASAP.

Additional notes

  • The "back" button should not be activated , since the section has opened in a new tab. The back button simply refreshes the page and does not redirect to anything.

I can repro this with 62 and the hamburger menu (added in bug 1462468), so tracking as a regression is likely not useful. I don't think fixing this is a high priority.

Priority: -- → P5
Summary: The Manage Settings button from about:protections opens about:preferences section with Back button active → Preferences/Options being opened with subcategories have a "useless" back button entry added (e.g. The Manage Settings button from about:protections and the privacy protection entry in the hamburger menu)

I think there's a dupe of this somewhere.
