Attached image Ice stats failed

Affected versions

  • Firefox 72.0b7
  • Firefox 73.0a1

Affected platforms

  • macOS 10.15
  • Windows 10
  • Ubuntu 18.04

Preconditions

  • The connection between the systems needs to be over the internet. The issue is not reproducible if the systems are connected locally.
  • In this situation, a simulation was done with macOS system being connected to a remote hotspot from a phone, and the Windows 10 system was connected locally.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Access Sharedrop on one end (macOS - Firefox for example) and click on the + sign on the right side of the page.
  2. Copy the provided address from the popup and paste it on the other end (Windows 10 - Firefox) to make a connection between them.
  3. Once connected, select the windows pc from the macOS's side or vice-versa and send a file of choice to it.

Expected result

  • The file is successfully uploaded and sent to the other connected system.

Actual result

  • An error message is shown, stating that "It was not possible to establish direct connection with the other peer."

Regression range

  • Will see for a regression.

Additional notes

  • The log from about:webrtc can be seen in the attachment.
  • The error happens if a connection between Chrome to Firefox is made too.

Here is a log with the disabled feature, and Ice stats failing.

Same thing seems to happen from Chrome to Chrome for me, because there is no TURN server.

Dan, is this related to your mDNS work? I'm going to mark this a P3 for now. Please adjust.

Flags: needinfo?(dminor)
Priority: -- → P3

Catalin did some extra testing and it fails in Firefox with mDNS disabled and on older versions. Based on Comment 2, this sounds like a site issue, so I think this is safe to mark as WONTFIX.
