Affected versions

  • Firefox 70.0b12
  • Firefox 71.0a1

Affected platforms

  • Windows 7 (x64)
  • macOS 10.14
  • Ubuntu 18.04

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start Firefox.
  2. Access the following link.
  3. Click on the shield, found in location bar and make sure the information panel is extended.
  4. Click on Social Media Trackers.

Expected result

  • The "Manage protection settings" button is at the edge of the panel.

Actual result

  • There is a visible blank area to the bottom of the submenu panel.

Regression range
I think this is a regression. I will look into it asap.

Additional notes

  • The actual issue can be seen in the screencast.
  • The issue is only reproducible on systems with lowres displays (1366x768 or lower). Anything higher, the issue will not be reproducible.
  • The button might be thrown up because at these resolutions it will touch the bottom of the screen, and it will try and stretch it somehow.

Notes:

  • the issue reproduces as well on Windows 10 as operating systems go;
  • the key aspect of this issue to manifest is, as per :csasca's note, the screen resolution - 1366x768 or lower;

@Nihanth, when you have time could you take a look at this?

Hi,
I've tested this using Firefox Nightly version74.0a1 (2020-01-22) (64-bit), Beta 73.0b2 (64-bit) Release 72.0.1 (64-bit) and I’m able to reproduce the issue. Based on this I will mark flags as affected accordingly.

Best,
Clara

I don't have time to work on this in the near future and I don't think it's a very important bug. Might pick it up after I'm back from PTO in March. Also happy to mentor if someone wants to make a patch.
