Affected platforms

  • Windows 7 x64

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Firefox 67.0b4 win32 ru build and set up for Acer distribution.
  2. Set up the language pack as per instructions in the document bellow.
  • I used ru.xpi from here.
  1. Perform update.

*see this link for additional details.

Expected result

  • What is the expected behaviour when a win32 Firefox build migrates after update to a win64 Firefox build?

Actual result

  • After update, the Firefox build migrates to win64 build, so we have now 69.0b9 (latest Beta) win64 build.
  • The Languages section is not displayed (because initially a win32 ru.xpi was installed).

Notes

  • Only Beta builds are affected.
  • I've tested with 68.0.1 win32 build and after update, the build is not migrated to win64, so the Language section is there.

Are the Acer customizations still present? Is the build in the same directory on the Windows machine (Program Files vs Program Files (x86)?

Also can you be more specific about "perform update"? How are you updating?

Yes, the Acer customizations are still present after update.
I've installed Firefox win32 in Porgram Files (x86) and after update, it is in the same directory even if the build is migrated to win64 build. So, yes, the build is in the same directory on the Windows machine: in Program Files (x86).

Also can you be more specific about "perform update"? How are you updating?
From Hamburger Menu -> Help -> About Firefox -> then restart to apply updates

Something is weird here: after update, I have different information about build configuration: in about:support I have Win64, x64 (under User Agent), in About Firefox window I have 69.0b9 (32-bit) and in about:buildconfig I have i686-pc-mingw32 (under Build Platform). Is this ok? You can see these differences in Acer-afterUpdate.png attachment.

Flags: needinfo?(mozilla)

I think this is an invalid test scenario.

The ru.xpi won't install properly on that beta do to the addon certificates issues.

So the langpack disappears because it's actually invalid. (If you try to install it from Firefox, it says it is corrupt)

Flags: needinfo?(mozilla)

The priority flag is not set for this bug.
:mkaply, could you have a look please?
