Details
Affected versions
- 68.0.1
- 69.0b6
- 70.0a1
Affected platforms
- macOS 10.14
- Ubuntu 16.04
Steps to reproduce
- Launch FF.
- Go to https://mystor.github.io/dragndrop/# .
- Select drop-html-data
- In a new tab/window from another browser(Chrome), visit a random page (ex: wikipedia.org)
- Select a paragraph from the website and drag it in the Drop Stuff Here! area from the demo.
Expected result
- Matching appears under the Drop Stuff Here area, the expected result is identical to result and the selected text is displayed lower in the page.
Actual result
- Not matching appears under the Drop Stuff Here area.
Note
- This issue occurs ONLY when dragging the paragraph from another browser(i.e : Latest Google Chrome). Dragging the paragraph from another Firefox tab/window render the "MATCHING" message.
- Also note that this issue does not occur with the paste-html-data from another browser.
Regression range
- Managed to reproduce this issue on 67.0a1( 20190202213603) from 2019-02-02 as well.
*I went as far back as 55.0a1 (2017-06-11) and I managed to reproduce this issue with the same repro steps. This issue does not seem to be a regression
Got "MATCHING" on Ubuntu 18.04 with Nightly 70.0a1. Vlad, can you please mention a concrete paragraph to drag?

Hello Mirko,
I used this paragraph :
"The Sinai insurgency initially consisted of militants, largely composed of local Bedouin tribesmen, who exploited the chaotic situation in Egypt and weakened central authority to launch a series of attacks on government forces in Sinai." from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinai_insurgency.
Indeed, I do get the "MATCHING" text when copying the aforementioned paragraph from another Firefox tab/window.
The issue actually occurs when dragging the paragraph from another browser (i.e latest version of Chrome) and dropping it in FF.
And by this rule, this issue occurs for Windows platform as well.
Is this intended?

Vlad, is this a regression?
(The bot may add regression keyword quite randomly)

Hello,
This issue does not seem to be a regression as I went as far back as 55.0a1 (2017-06-11) and I managed to reproduce this issue with the same repro steps.
