  • 65.0.1
  • 67.0a1

Affected platforms

  • Windows 10x64
  • Ubuntu 16.04 x86
  • macOS 10.14

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch FF.
  2. Go to this image https://preview.tinyurl.com/y3o458ot
  3. Zoom the picture between 50% and 80%

Expected result

  • The image remains the same and no graphical issues occur when zooming in or out.

Actual result

  • The image displays abnormal behavior when zooming it between 50% and 80%. The brightness and saturation of the image seem to change depending on the zoom value of the user.

Regression range
*Will return with a regression ASAP.

I think this is just artifacts of downscaling this image. The image is made up of many tiny dots used to create shading, more dots for darker shades. In Safari there is a similar but worse (IMO) effect, when you zoom to the smallest size the image flashes from a low quality downscaled result to a high quality downscale result at the same size. I don't think there is anything to fix here.
