Affected versions

  • 66.0b6
  • 65.0
  • 67.0a1

Affected platforms

  • Windows 7 x64
  • Windows 10 x64

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install latest FF and launch it.
  2. Install latest Chrome and launch it.
  3. Install AVAST free with the recommended settings.

Expected result

  • A doorhanger is displayed in both browsers informing that AVAST Online Security extension will be added as part of the standard installation process.

Actual result

  • The doorhanger informing that AVAST Online Security extension is about to be added is only displayed for Chrome browser.

Regression range

  • Will return with regression ASAP.

Additional notes

  • AVAST Online Security extension is part of the standard installation of AVAST, and it should be installed on all available browsers.

Are you saying the add-on is installed into Firefox without showing the permission prompt (or being disabled by default) or are you saying the add-on is not installed in Firefox at all?

@Andreas

The add-on is not installed in Firefox at all, while on Chrome it is.

Flags: needinfo?(vlad.lucaci)

I don't think this is a blocklist request then. Moving it to Firefox::Untriaged. Please feel free to move to the appropriate component.

Vlad, what component do you think is more appropriate to set this bug to?

I have moved this bug to Core-General as I could not find a specific board for this issue.

Hello,

I tried to see if this issue is a regression and went with the regression range as far back as builds from 2015.

I tried finding a regression manually with release, beta and Nightly builds and went as far as FF 10 with no success.

It seems that this issue was always present (or at the very least, as early as AVAST implemented this extension in its product).
