Details

(Keywords: regression)

[Affected versions]:
- Firefox 63.0.1
- Firefox 64.0b6
- Nightly 65.0a1

[Affected platforms]:
- macOS 10.13

[Steps to reproduce]:
1. Go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page.
2. Select a word.
3. Activate Find Toolbar (Ctrl+F)

[Expected result]:
- The selected word is placed in the Find Toolbar search field.

[Actual result]:
- Nothing is displayed there or a previously searched word is still displayed.

[Regression range]:
- This is an old regression because I can't reproduce the issue using Forefox from 2014-01-02.
I will try to find a pushlog as soon as possible.
I can't seem to be able to find the exact regression range because the are some builds between 2014 and 2015 that are not opening on mac. But I can still reproduce the issue on macOS 10.13 using Nightly from 2015-06-02. So it's an old regression.
Happy to take a patch in nightly; if it seems low risk enough please feel free to request uplift to 65 beta.

This is expected behavior on OSX, Oana, because that OS has the concept of a separate 'find clipboard', which is used to remember the last find string used across all open apps.
This means that if you use find in page in Firefox and after that in Mail.app, you'll see that the search term you entered in Firefox is prefilled there too.
