Details

(Keywords: 64bit, Whiteboard: [MemShrink])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3163.79 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Install the latest version of Firefox, which is version 53.0.3, but it's the 64 Bit Build.

Actual results:

Open the Windows Task Manager, right click it's system tray icon, enable always on top, leave Windows Task Manager open on your screen, and leave the 64 Bit Build of the latest version of Mozilla Firefox open on the new tab page while it is idling and doing nothing for some time. I come back, look at Firefox's process on Windows Task Manager, and it's using up 2GB of my RAM for no absolute reason what so ever.

Expected results:

Memory usage on Mozilla Firefox should be really low while it is idling for some time, and doing absolutely nothing what so ever.

Version: 53 Branch → 55 Branch
Sorry, I meant to say 55.0.3, not 53.0.3. Oops.
Please enter the address "about:memory?verbose" (with a lower-case "v") in the address bar and attach (using the "Attach File" link above) the output here.

About:support text would be useful as well.

There's not much we can do without a memory report. Please feel free to reopen if you can provide an about:memory report [1].
