Details

(Whiteboard: tpi:+ [platform-rel-Apple])

[Affected versions]:
- latest Nightly 51.0a1 (2016-09-14)
- latest Aurora 50.0a2 (2016-09-14)
- 49.0 build3 (20160912134115)

[Affected platforms]:
- Mac OS X 10.12

[Steps to reproduce]:
1. Launch Firefox
2. Go to a HTML5 video website, open a random video (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKSRyLdjsPA) and keep it in the active tab
3. Minimize the window
4. Restore the window by clicking the browser icon from the Dock

[Expected result]:
- The minimized window is properly restored, with no visual issues

[Actual result]:
- Graphical issues occur when an active tab with a playing HTML5 video is restored (see the screencast https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0nYKG6PRiCcOVRBVVVQeEczQjg/view?usp=sharing)

[Regression range]:
- This issue is not a regression, as it is reproducible all the way back to 50.0a1 (2016-07-12) (when Bug 1284677 was fixed)

[Additional notes]:
- This issue is not resolution related - it is reproducible on both lodpi station (iMac, 21.5-inch, Late 2013, 21,5-inch, 1920 x 1080 display, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB graphics) and hidpi station (Retina, 13-inch 2560 x 1600, Early 2015, Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB)
Interesting! I can reproduce this when clicking the Nightly app icon in the dock, but not when clicking the icon in the right part of the Dock (which is where the animation indicates you should click). This is probably a macOS bug then.

Too late to fix for 49 but we might still take a patch in 50.

Hi Andrew, Sierra was released by Apply this week. Can you please help find an owner who can investigate this? Or is this a MacOS bug (mentioned in comment 1) and we need to engage with Apple? Thanks!

Markus, WDYT?

I can no longer reproduce this. Iulia, can you reproduce this with the 10.12 release, or did it only happen on the Betas?

However, even if it were still reproducible, I wouldn't know what to do about it, other than filing a bug with Apple.

I still reproduce the issue on latest Nightly 52.0a1 (2016-09-30) with the Sierra 10.12 release.

I reported issue 28613108 at https://bugreport.apple.com/ .
This doesn't seem like something we can fix directly. We are a week away from RC, too late, this is now a wontfix for 50.

I don't suppose there's been an update from Apple on this?
