Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0
Build ID: 20151029151421

Steps to reproduce:

I'm using a Mac with OSX 10.11.1. The File menu states that I can open a new window using the Command + N on the keyboard. However, every time I do this, I get a new tab. Only when I click on File and then on New Window using the trackpad, does a new window open. The "Open new windows in a new tab instead" setting under General is unchecked.

Actual results:

Command + N opens a new tab instead of a new window.

Expected results:

Command + N should've opened a new window instead of a new tab.
Can you reproduce the issue in a brand new profile?

Is your language something other than English (US) in your operating system, keyboard, software keyboard layout, or Firefox?

Well my mac is just a few weeks old and the Firefox installed on this is a brand new one. I'd hate to remove this profile and add new one. That would mean I'd have to reinstall all my add-ons and reset my settings again. However, if you think thats the ONLY way to check, then i'll give it a shot. The language is English (US) everywhere.

OK I created a new profile and tried the same thing again. This time it opened a new window instead of a new tab. Surprise!
Thank you for the update.

Creating a new profile as described at comment 1 doesn't affect your other profile(s).

Then the problem is most likely caused by one of your add-ons or maybe your preferences. If you find the root cause, please post a comment identifying it.
