Description: For Cost Control the Data Limit found in the Notification tray as well as the Usage graph found in the app are displaying in accurate results. Even if the user goes over the limit these results will still imply that data is available. Repro Steps: Prereq: Wifi is disabled. Data Connection Enabled. 1) Update a Aries to 20150908144744 2) Select Usage app > Settings 3) Enable Data use alert 4) Change "When use is above" to 1 MB. 5) Open browser and navigate to a website that uses data quickly. Such as streaming a video on YouTube. Actual: Notification Tray will still say data is available, even after using over 1MB of data. Usage graph under Cost Control app is in accurate. Expected: It is expected that the notification tray will display accurate usage results as well as in the usage app. Environmental Variables: Device: Aries 2.5 Kk Build ID: 20150908144744 Gaia: b81185d30e548f782770b852473ffb53c641a490 Gecko: b23b2fa33a9dcda59dbbca1d157eca3c32c5b862 Gonk: 2916e2368074b5383c80bf5a0fba3fc83ba310bd Version: 43.0a1 (2.5) Firmware Version: D5803_23.1.A.1.28_NCB.ftf User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Mobile; rv:43.0) Gecko/43.0 Firefox/43.0 User Impact: User may not realize how much data they have actually used and my unintentionally go past their limit. This issue does NOT occur on the Flame 2.5 and 2.2. Result: User receives red text in the notification tray indicating that the user has exceeded the limit, the graph in the usage app also indicates the user has exceeded the limit as well. Environmental Variables: Device: Flame 2.5 Kk Fullflash (319mb) Build ID: 20150909163019 Gaia: 47459eead04385e22f967012b824f5abdddcfb7c Gecko: dd2a1d737a64d9a3f23714ec5cc623ec8933b51f Gonk: c4779d6da0f85894b1f78f0351b43f2949e8decd Version: 43.0a1 (2.5) Firmware Version: v18D User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Mobile; rv:43.0) Gecko/43.0 Firefox/43.0 Environmental Variables: Device: Flame 2.2 Kk Fullflash (319mb) Build ID: 20150909183023 Gaia: 7a427e0f8aa6c185a9e22358006b97c19435ca4a Gecko: 0d9c46d01861 Gonk: bd9cb3af2a0354577a6903917bc826489050b40d Version: 37.0 (2.2) Firmware Version: v18D User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Mobile; rv:37.0) Gecko/37.0 Firefox/37.0

I have identified a more accurate STR. 1. From RC4 build enable wifi and data. 2. OTA to latest build. 3. Browse internet for a minute or 2. 4. Disable wifi. 5. Enable usage app and set at around 100mb. 6. Browse youtube again and monitor usage in notification tray / usage app Result: Usage rate will not display increasing results.

The new update steps prevent us from finding a window the traditional way since it requires updating to reproduce. No-Jun, do you have any suggestions for how this might be looked into?

[Blocking Requested - why for this release]: (In reply to Jayme Mercado [:JMercado] from comment #5) > The new update steps prevent us from finding a window the traditional way > since it requires updating to reproduce. No-Jun, do you have any > suggestions for how this might be looked into? Hmm, for one thing, it is definitely a 2.5 blocker, since the app doesn't warn the user even if the data usage goes above the specified limit. Perhaps Mahi might know who to talk to regarding this component?

Hi folks, I've just tried this bug, and I'm not able to reproduce. Asked Isa to check if she can reproduce it.

Hi I tried it also. Flashed Aries with 2.5 build: Gaia: 47459eea Gecko: dd2a1d73 Then followed steps in comment #4 and everything is shown fine in the app. The data consumption is ok and it increases in a coherent way. Please John if there is any other steps or something that we could be missing to reproduce the bug, let us know

Using the STR found in my original post as well as the STR in comment 4 I was UNABLE to reproduce this issue. Result: Usage level from the notification tray updates and text color changes accordingly with Wi-Fi disabled. The graph found in the usage app updates as well. It looks like this issue no longer occurs. Environmental Variables: Device: Aries 2.5 Kk BuildID: 20151019104907 Gaia: f75bd584aca0a751a5bed115800250faa8412927 Gecko: d3e87bb40753327550143ba8ac8ee27b300cd4a9 Gonk: 2916e2368074b5383c80bf5a0fba3fc83ba310bd Version: 44.0a1 (2.5) Firmware Version: D5803_23.1.A.1.28_NCB.ftf User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Mobile; rv:44.0) Gecko/44.0 Firefox/44.0
