User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:39.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/39.0 Build ID: 20150604162752 Steps to reproduce: Sitting on Yahoo Mail page, checking mail, reading mail. Actual results: Firefox goes "Not Responding" constantly when loading messages or any page. Doing nothing on Yahoo Mail page, warning notice appears across the top about Firefox trying to redirect to another page. Yahoo "Support" keeps telling to update Flash. According to Adobe, I have the latest: 18.0.160 (or something like that). Expected results: No redirect warning.

Have you tried if you see this issue in Firefox's safe mode, too? You can restart Firefox into safe mode by using the 'Restart Firefox with add-ons disabled' entry in the 'Help' menu. This will also disable graphics hardware acceleration and some JS engine optimizations, not just extensions and plugins. See https://support.mozilla.org/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode .

The redirect warning is the banner across the top of the page, similar to the ones asking about ActiveX and such. And yes, it happens in safe mode, too. I'm using Nightly right now, which just updated about an hour or so ago and it seems to be working much better. I'm in the middle of something for which I'll need a couple of hours and I'll try it in Firefox. One other thing. Last night before bed I had Spybot run a deep malware and rootkit scan and removal on all 4 of my attached drives. Before that, I ran Wise Registry Cleaner. So, that may also have something to do with it.

No. It doesn't seem as though it is happening. If it, it's not as constant. Although it is still a bit laggy, especially in letting me type on FB, but that's probably just Marky's issue. Now I guess I need to spend the time and figure out which add-on or extension it is. Sholdn't be too hard, I don't use many.

Ok. I lied. It just happened again. It may have something to do with an interaction with Youtube. I clicked over to my open Yahoo tab after watching a documentary. Prior to watching the doc, I read an article on ZDNet (Patch Tuesday description). I also checked email in Outlook, which never displays this warning, just Yahoo.

One other thing I just noticed. After installing the beta update pictured in the screencap, I restarted in Safe Mode again. However, the Help Menu still shows the option for me to Restart with Add-Ons disabled. How can I verify that it really did restart in Safe Mode?

(In reply to Mike Aguilar from comment #6) > Created attachment 8620932 [details] > Screencap of "Redirect Warning" as requested. This shows the update dialog. Did you mean to attach a different file? FWIW, I presume you mean the warning that gets triggered if you check "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page" under "Accessibility" in the "Advanced" part of the options. The warning being shown isn't necessarily a bug assuming that pref is indeed on... (In reply to Mike Aguilar from comment #8) > One other thing I just noticed. How can I verify > that it really did restart in Safe Mode? about:addons will say add-ons are disabled because you're in safe mode.

Ahh. I see. Any way that can be changed to: "Warn me when websites try to redirect"? I'm not so worried if a page tries to reload, especially a webmail page/site. Redirecting is more worrisome, wouldn't you agree?

Especially if you don't click a link?

Works ok for me. I opened Yahoo mail, checked and read some emails for some time and faced no issue or such warning. I have some around 10 of addons installed though.

Well, different people have different opinions about that, cf. bug 680565, and the technique used is essentially almost the same (meta refresh tag).
