Mac OS X 10.6.8, Firefox Nightly. I start Firefox' profile manager, with the command line and -p In the profile manager, I choose to create a new profile. In Choose Folder… → New Folder, I can enter the wanted name. In the clipboard, I have a little text. I press Apple V. * Expected result : * This pastes the text. * Actual result : * This does not paste the text. By right-clicking in the field, pasting works. Thank you for fixing this little bug. Nicolas

This is an old bug -- even FF 30 has it. But, though I use the Profile Manager all the time, I've never noticed it before, because whenever I create a new profile I do the following: 1) In the Profile Manager choose Create Profile and press Continue. 2) Press cmd-v to paste selected text into the box under "Enter new profile name". So this bug has two easy workarounds -- this one and the one you mentioned. The bug will probably be quite difficult to fix, since it happens in a native filepicker (one provided by the OS). So I'm afraid it will be a while before we get to this bug.

But suppose that I really want to create a new folder. Suppose that I want to create a new folder Firefox-Profiles-Νικος and to have my new profile folder inside it: Firefox-Profiles-Νικος/Firefox-Profile-Νικος-α. Then this workaround does not work. And I really want to paste, not type, because of the greek characters!

My point is that, because the filepicker is a native dialog, we have no direct control over it. To fix this bug we'll have to find a workaround ... which is quite difficult. I don't deny this bug is annoying. But you do have a workaround (using right-click then paste). And this bug isn't particularly urgent, and our resources are very limited.
