We'd like to improve our releng patch workflow by moving all RoRs to github (bug 1140419). Release tagging is a fly in that ointment. We should figure out how release tagging would work if we move the affected repos to github. 

It would be perfectly valid to continue tagging an hg mirror provided that doesn't cause bi-directional sync issues.
We are not going to tag repos other than gecko.
